So, what happened?
I was in and out of semi-abusive relationships through my teens to mid twenties. Learned radical self acceptance in spite of them. In and out of a lot of things, actually. Psych wards and sex work. A very healthy combination, I'm sure you can imagine. But through it all, the childhood dream kept haunting me. The childhood dream of stardom. Of being a performing musician. The itch got too much. I lost my most consistent adult job and said fuck everything, I have to give it a shot. Applied to a new program through Carclew, the Emerging First Nations Creatives program. A vague, potshot idea for three albums, and jokes on them because they let me do the program, funded the first album and it changed my life forever.
The rest is history. Recent history, but you get the point.
